Snowboard classes for Ridge Riders (5, 6 year olds) and Juniors/Adults (7 and
older) are available for all abilities. Classes are divided into the following levels.
Ridge Riders (5, 6 yr olds): You are never too young to start snowboarding. Ridge
Riders will introduce your child to the fun sport of snowboarding and is for children
ages 5 and 6 years old. For children younger than 5 yrs, we recommend private lessons
as one-on-one instruction works best with the little ones. We do have rentals available
for some 3 year olds as our smallest snowboard boot is a size 9 and our smallest
Discover (7 and older): If you've never snowboarded before,
then our Discover program is the one to start out with. This program is designed
to introduce your child to the sport of snowboarding, get comfortable with the equipment
and get you up and down on our Bunny Hill and Porcupine Hill.
Green (7 and older): This level is offered for those who have
snowboarded before but are still more comfortable on our beginner hills.. By the
end of the class, each student should be able to ride unassisted on our gentle Bunny
Hill, Porcupine Hill and have been introduced to the intermediate runs.
Blue (7 and older): In this level, we perfect the novice
turn and introduce you to the basic turn. By the end of a session, each boarder
should be comfortable boarding our beginner and intermediate runs.
Black (7 and older): In the black level, our professional
instructors will assist you in improving your basic turns and work on skills such
as balance, pivoting, edge control and linked turns.
Red (7 and older): This level is designed to fine-tune the
skills of the advanced boarder and perfect carving turns and higher-level maneuvers.
Note that if registration in some classes is low (1 or 2 students) then classes
may be combined instead of cancelled. For example, if only 1 person is registered
in the Red level and a few people in the Black level, then we would combine the
two levels into one class.
While your children are in lessons, why not ski or ride for the day.
Take advantage of our
parent ticket and rental price which makes it much more affordable to ski while
your kids are in their class. Lift tickets are only $15 while ski or snowboard rentals
are $12. And best of all, the lift ticket and rentals are good
for the whole day and for all lifts. Pick yours up at reception when you get your
kids lesson ticket.
If you have a family profile and are registering online, you no longer need to complete
a rental form at the hill. Just be sure that when you register online that you have
correctly filled out the rental information for each person renting (height, weight,
shoe size etc). Then, when you arrive at the hill on the first day of classes, your
rental form will be printed and you just have to sign it.
If you are registering over the phone and require rental equipment, then you must
complete a rental form when you arrive at Sunridge on the first day of classes.
If a class is missed due to illness or a scheduling conflict, we offer one make-up
lesson per program. No refunds or credits are given should a class be missed
for any reason. Make-up classes are only offered on the first Saturday of each month
from 3:30pm to 5:00pm. If you miss more than one class, you can take one make-up
lesson and we will give you one guest pass to come snowboarding on a day of your
PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED FOR ALL MAKE-UP CLASSES. Should you register for a make-up
